Hear ye, hear ye, Black people!

The first Juneteenth as a federal holiday in the great United States of America whooped everyone's ass and, dare I say: I loved every single bit of it!

I made sure not to be late for work this morning and set up my back-to-back alarms. However, in honor of Juneteenth I permitted myself to wake up at the very last minute! Why?! Because I had a few drinks to celebrate ON Juneteenth. 😉

Let the congregation say: Amen!

No worries, I made it to work on time.

I was baffled and amazed by how Juneteenth served a can of whoop-ass to everyone this year:

1) Black people were drinking and celebrating!

2) White Liberals were confused and uncomfortable talkin' about:

"Happy Juneteenth!"

3) Black Politicians in Congress (Rep. Cori Bush, D-MO 1st District) took time to kill two birds with one stone and finally start a mainstream conversation on reparations for slavery!

4) White Supremacists still mad!

Bottom line is: I'm truly here for it all!

From conversations and debates to breaking down barriers and walls alike.

It's time for us to start building new federal traditions in our nation, and destroy the patterns of racism imposed by systemic hatred.

Whomever is mad should stay mad.

Black people have waited a long time for this tiny bit of accountability from our oppressors.

Now, in the words of Dr Umar Johnson: "We have to find a way to dismantle systemic racism in the United States of America" before the job can truly be considered finished.

As I always say, "We The People" means all of us, no matter the race, gender, sexual orientation or social class. It's time for us to realize that anyone who campaigns against racial and/or gender equality (whether through political agenda or personal advocacy) is not a true patriot and does not truly have a place to make legal or governmental decisions for our nation.
