Wait… What even is the Met Gala?

Think of it as fashion’s most exclusive night out. The Met Gala is a major fundraiser for The Metropolitan Museum of Art’s Costume Institute. It also marks the grand opening of their annual fashion exhibit. TL;DR: It’s where high fashion meets high society, and A-listers break the internet with their looks.

What’s this year’s theme?

The 2025 theme is “Superfine: Tailoring Black Style”—a deep dive into the history and influence of Black dandyism, inspired by Monica L. Miller’s book Slaves to Fashion. Expect a showcase of elite craftsmanship, bold tailoring, and unapologetic style.

The exhibit will be split into 12 sections, covering everything from “Freedom” and “Cool” to “Heritage” and “Beauty.” Basically, it’s about the swag and sophistication of Black fashion from the 18th century to today.

Featured artists include Torkwase Dyson, André Grenard Matswa, Tyler Mitchell, and more. Oh, and Monica L. Miller herself is co-curating alongside fashion legend Andrew Bolton.

Who’s hosting?

Get ready for a power lineup:📌 Co-Chairs: Colman Domingo, Lewis Hamilton, A$AP Rocky, Pharrell Williams, and, of course, the Met Gala queen herself, Anna Wintour.📌 Honorary Chair: LeBron James—yes, that LeBron from basketball.

📌 Host Committee: A whole squad of icons, including André 3000, Ayo Edebiri, Usher, Janelle Monáe, Sha’Carri Richardson, Doechii, Dapper Dan, Spike Lee, Tyla, and more. Safe to say, the vibes are immaculate.

Dress code?

The official dress code is "Tailored for You"—a nod to menswear, suiting, and all things custom-made. Expect attendees to go all out with bold, unique tailoring, unexpected silhouettes, and probably a few gender-fluid fashion moments. This is supposed to be a masterclass in FITS.

What actually happens at the Met Gala?
